Our Facilities

The Hanford Foundry is housed in an 18,000 square foot manufacturing park. The facility currently houses the foundry and associated finishing equipment, tool storage facilities, a small maintenance department, quality assurance department and offices for engineering and production control.

  Equipment

Our equipment consists of tilt machines for perm mold casting, seven melt furnaces all gas fired, low volume heat treat capability, grinders, sanders and band saw for finishing as well as limited sand casting capability for prototype use. All of our alloy is degassed via our Dynarad auto degassing unit using nitrogen. All batches or melts are 100% tested for out-gassing and spectrographic samples are taken and inventoried for analysis by our outside test lab located in Fresno, California 30 minutes from our facility.

We also have the equipment necessary to produce metal matrix composite alloy on site. The equipment is setup in the Composite Manufacturing Department with a dedicated 1,000 pound furnace and a proprietary piece of equipment; the fluid bed injection system wets the ceramic while injecting it into the molten alloy under controlled conditions.

  Location

Thresher Industries is headquartered in Hanford, California, midway between Los Angeles and the Bay Area in the heart of the vibrant San Joaquin Valley.   High Pressure Die Casting Overview

Thresher Industries has three high pressure cold chamber die casting machines capable of producing castings between 3 ounces and 16 pounds. Our capabilities are in conventional die cast grades of aluminum as well as our proprietary metal matrix composite alloys which use aluminum and very fine ceramic particulate yielding a material with higher strength and wear resistance as well as refined thermal capabilities.

Our casting cells use dedicated furnaces and are monitored by a Shotscope process monitor both on the production floor and in our quality office. The system stores critical run parameters for each job allowing rapid set up and then collects data on each shot creating archival data for each run as well as statistical data for process monitoring. Analysis and monitoring is the responsibility of our quality technicians, assuring we provide our customers with high quality components for each order.

We are a lower volume producer, specializing in high quality castings using our unique alloys and when applicable our soluble core technology unique to our company.
